Scopic regimes in America today
Two scopic regimes (ideologically determined ways of looking at the world) are in conflict today, particularly in American media culture. One regime insists on reading media transparently for their “content”; the other wants/needs to complicate the relationship between media forms and contents. How are these scopic regimes expressed in contemporary digital and traditional media?
